Rear Window Wiper WONT STOP

Postby joshburke.6n2 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 4:46 pm

Started the car the other day, and all the wipers started gong, got the front ones to go again as normal, but the rear proceeds to go constantly so to save me the painful sound of rubber on dry glass i drive along with it sticking out and waving to following cars, been to a couple of garages and both suggest the switch may be on its way out, but the front ones work fine, simplest solutions? pay the 60-80£? or ask one of you kindly to help me remove the rear wiper, if this would solve the problem?
Cheers x

Josh if you disconnect the battery u will be ok with the airbag. There should be a screw or a couple under the steering wheel, these hold the airbag in, loosen them take the bag out, disconnect the plug then this should leave you open to loosen the main nut and off the wheel would come. Make sure that you lock the steering wheel and make a mark on the cowel and steering to assure alignment befor you remove the steering wheel.

Hope this helps

took the car to the garage this morning, they changed the wiper stalk and the relay, couldnt stop the back one going, so they took the fuse out, and they thought they had conquered the problem of the front ones, paid a £120 bill, and left, 400 metres down the road the front ones started again, so i went back, and after some more trying they gave me a full refund, and said id have to go to a vw dealer, or someone with a computer, so ive booked in at inde-tech in mk, and at £22.95 for a diagnosis this is looking expensive ..
