Interior fabric glue? Talk to me...

Postby StueyB » Wed Aug 12, 2009 9:52 pm

Hey guys,

Know a few of you have re-trimmed headlinings and tings. Was wondering what you used for gluing.

For audio stuff's before I've used spray glue, works ok but not the stickiest of stuff.

Can anyone recommend anything and where to get it from?

Thanks,

Stu

I recently retrimmed my headliner in suede.. I used SikaTak Spray Adhesive (from Halfrauds) seemed to hold at first, but the suede was too heavy for it. Got bord of going out in the morning and finding the headliner resting against the tops of the headrests. Ended up going to Focus and buying some Duck Carpet Tape.. holds well now, and you can barely see the tape! :D

Dam the carpet tape sounds like a plan, i had carpet adhesive from b and q, it was monumentally shit after a day of the car sitting in the sun.

Have been told there is an evo stick that does a good job, think linsey has it.

Oooo nice one bear, just been reading about this stuff.

Also apparently 3M spray adhesive is the best by a mile. Any one confirm?

It depends on what fabric your trying to stick to your headliner.. like i said, if your using a heavy material ie, suede. the contact adhesive just wont be strong enough to hold it up, thats the reason i opted for carpet tape, you cant see the tape lines as its so thin and from the pattern left in the suede from when anyone touches it :D

we use 3m products at work everyday and the spray adhesive being one of them. cant beat it. cant be a bastard to take things apart that have been glued using it so i would say it was good.

Loctite spray adhesive is also another good one.
