My MK6 GTI

Postby G-GTI » Wed Mar 24, 2010 11:51 pm

So, i've still got the Rado but it's SORN's for a while while i get the cash together to take it to the next level (probably not going to happen this year but some day).

Having traded in the beemer because it did 13mpg and cost £440 a yr for road tax apart from that i loved it and will probably never own a car as fast.......

I searched for ages to find a MK6 GTI. It had to white, had to be 3dr, and i wanted nav, bluetooth, ipod connection, cloth interior (Leather just isn't right in a GTI when the Jakara check looks so damn good!), all the poncey toys as it was going to be driven over quite a few miles

So i found one with 4k on the clock also had adaptive chassis control (you know that shiz with adjustable dampers) and winter pack so my ass will never be cold again! and saved about £8k off list because somebody else ran it in for me.

This is how it looked when i picked it up

I've been pretty busy so far;

Revo Stage 1 remap - literally the day after i got it home.
APR Stage 1 & 2 Carbon Fibre air intake
Eibach springs (can't bring myself to get rid of the ACC for coilovers just yet - which is standard on the new rocco but is like £1k option on the GTI)
KW ARB's front and rear
Whitelines anti-lift kit
Powerflex front wishbone bushes
KMD lower chassis braces front and rear
BBS CK's (painted gloss black) 18x8 (et44) with Hankook Evo V12 tyres (which are pretty sick for the money BTW)
Blueflame turbo-back exhaust

Also had Gary paint up the front lip spoiler, and some wingmirror housings as well as the stock engine cover.

Here's a few pics (they don't show the black mirrors or front lip but you get the idea);

I've got a dieselgeeks shortshift coming from the States and a THS intercooler to be fitted then it'll be some AP Racing brakes up front and i'll be ready for my trip to Nurburgring in May - going to be sick.

Let me know what you think and suggestions on what to do next are welcome........

Peace.

Cheers man.

Yes to the rear diffuser, hoping someone will make one soon - probably OSIR Designs and then i don't have to go down the custom route.

I know somebody makes wingmirror covers in carbon but they're bond on and not complete replacement casings so not sure i'm down with that. The Viper Green Rocco at UD had them on IIRC

Apologies for the gash iphone pic.

Bloody VAT and duty came to £30.74 precisely! It came over from Dieselgeeks in Texas and usually it sneaks through with no duty but never mind - it looks like a lovely piece of kit so can't wait to get it on and give it a go.

Don't think this will be going on air, it would look epic though! I want it lower than it is but this is going to be all about the go (with just a little bit of show).

Got a few track days and Nurburgring in May so it's go to be coils really.
